I Guess this is Spring!

The view along Woolworth through Field Club

The Copper view

I didn't quite catch her, but there was another gal riding!

The view off of 19th and Dodge of Central!  My alma mater!
It's been a soggy few weeks, off an on, but Copper and I have been smiling and commuting daily anyway.

Anyway, the rides have been good.  Today I was particularly packed down.  I don't even want to guess how much weight I was towing, including Copper, my laptop, yoga clothes, paperwork/notebooks, rain gear, and then just the regular messenger bag stuff that accumulates.  It was heavy.

I don't think that I've written about the transformation that Vern (my Vaya) has undergone lately!  It's now a triple instead of a double since I am a wuss and really like having a super easy granny gear for the hilly ride home, particularly after a long day at the shop.  Pulling Copper home is not always the easiest for tired legs...so now it's easier!  It's also a longer crank arm which is a better fit than my old set up.  At the same time that I was pulling the rest of it apart, I put on a narrower bar (again, to help the fit) and I'm overall, much happier because of all the modifications.

Last week was Bike to Work Week and I asked my ladies to share a commuting story or two.  One lovely gal, Lori, shared this:

"Nothing fancy here. But there was one day last week, I was riding in the rain, and thinking, this is not the best idea ever with lightening in the background. But I kept riding, thank God for clothes that dried during the day. So far 8 days into riding to work, love it! Like I said nothing fancy. But the UPS driver is always jealous of me:)"

If you have a story to share, email it to me!  Or, post it up!!

Thanks for reading.

Bike to Work Day!

I coerced a few girlies to ride in to work with me this morning.  We did free bagels and coffee at Greenstreet at 8:00a.m. and Marja and Natalie joined Copper and I for our morning commute!  Thanks gals!!

Also, last night in the freaking downpour, Jolene and I were riding home.  Here are a few pics!

Oh Man, It's Bike to Work Week...

...And I've been riding, but not blogging!

A few quick things: bike craziness at Greenstreet Cycles tomorrow!  Free coffee and bagels starting at 8:00a.m. for National Bike to Work Day!!!!  Do it. I'll be here by myself trying not to eat all the bagels and drink all the coffee alone.

Also, if you ride in you'll get a raffle ticket for our sweeeeet new Greenstreet T-shirt!!! They just arrived today, and I'm suuuper stoked.

Buh-zinggg!!  Brand spankin' new t-shirts!!!
Crapper, loading up.

She's a happy cyclist.  (Both of us actually.)

So, trips around town; new Bicycle Friendly Destinations...all sorts of good stuff happening these days.

What have you been doing??!!  Let me know.  This blog needs some flavor...

If only I had more time to write, and not just sell bikes.

Yup.
Spring!!!!
Yet another "Copper in her trailer" shot!

Windy Wednesday

I've been riding every day lately and can't remember being nearly blown off of my bike like I almost was on Wednesday!  It was fierce!

Aside from that, I noticed that a little stretch of Leavenworth just East of 13th is stilllllll in pretty bad shape.  Then I realized I'd never said anything about it to anyone.  So, Carlos, you'll probably be getting a separate email from me with some photos to show the City guys and we'll hope it gets fixed soon.  One of the most treacherous things a cyclist can encounter on the roads is a crack that runs parallel to the road.  This would be just that:
Purdy deep crack there, eh?!

Looking back west.

More later...time for food!

May

I think all of the April showers were worth it because now the weather is grand and there are flowers popping up all over the place!

These are from my back yard but all along my route:

So this is basically the way I go each day.  Leavenworth has been kind to me lately, as has Center St.  Thanks to the friendly drivers out there; it really is appreciated.  Lots of bell ringing and waving and smiling these days.

Where are you riding?
